Join us for crafts in the kids program room, one Wednesday a month! This 45 minute librarian-led art class is for tweens in grades 3-5. Tweens can attend on their own while their caregiver remains present and available within the library. We do provide aprons for participants, but this class might get messy. Registration is required.
You've been asking and now we've delivered! We are excited to offer you a super fun book club just for tweens! This book club is open to all tweens in grades 3-5. Please note that we all read the same book for discussion. Tween Book Talk meets typically the third Tuesday of each month from 5-6 PM, with some exceptions for holidays.
Registration opens at the beginning of each month, and is requested for each session. Tween participants will have the chance to vote for the next month's book selection. Each month's title will then be available to check out at the library three weeks prior to that month's book club. After attendees introduce themselves, we will all get a chance to share something we liked about the book before launching into a discussion. There will be light snacks.
As we get ready for our first book club, we need your help selecting the first title! Please note that this survey is for tweens in grades 3-5. Parents, you are welcome to fill it out on behalf of your tweens, but we ask that the feedback comes from potential participants. Thank you!
Loot Bags are open to tweens & teens in grades 3-12.
You must register for each month's loot bag separately. Registration for each month's loot bag goes live the first day of each month and closes on the last day of the month.
Have you ever wanted a monthly subscription box, but couldn't buy it? That's where we come in. With Ventress Memorial Library's monthly Loot Bags, you get goodies to fit each month's theme (supplies may vary) and quick pick reading materials, including a book of your own to keep! Please note that books will be selected to match the registrant's reading interests, and that the theme pertains only to the additional goodies.
Fall Season Monthly Themes:
*Please note: due to winter holidays, registration for the December Loot Bag is only open December 1 through December 10, and bags will be filled the week of December 12.
What does a loot bag come with?
Return the two library books and keep everything else!
When are Loot Bags available?
All Loot Bags are filled during the last week of each month, after registration for that month closes. We strive to fill these as soon as possible. If you register during the last week of the month, you will receive your Loot Bag, but note that we will fill bags in the order of registration.
You will receive an email when your Loot Bag is ready for pickup.
Tweens in grades 3-6 are welcome to sign up for a half-hour slot to try something new in The Wave Makerspace. Tweens ages 10 and up may attend alone or with a parent or adult caregiver. Below is a list of things you might try:
Due to the hands-on nature of this program, registration is required. Please note that advance registration guarantees an available slot. Drop-ins may be allowed if space is available. Tweens may bring a sibling or a friend (also in grades 3-6). Tweens younger than ten must have an adult join them. Ages 10 and up may be in the library without an adult. Parents or caregivers may attend if interested, but are not required to attend. There is a maximum of three participants, including the adult.
