Friends of the Library


The Friends of the Ventress Memorial Library is a volunteer organization open to all members of the community. The mission of the Friends is to support the library through fund-raising activities, advocacy, and sponsorship of programs to benefit the general public. Three Ways To Help Become a Member! Your tax-deductible dues will support your library. Members also receive the library newsletter and discounts on Friends-sponsored activities. Click here for Membership Form Join us! The Friends welcome new members and fresh ideas. Please come to the library for any of our meetings at 7:00 p.m on the first Tuesday of each month, September through June. Volunteer! We need help with setting up book sales, sorting book donations, event planning, refreshments, and publicity. Please let us know how you would like to use your special talents or interests to become involved. Opportunities to volunteer with minimal commitment are available. Click here for Volunteer Form Museum Passes The Friends provide discount passes to many of the area’s finest museums, which may be reserved and procured at the library. Did You Know? > The Friends conduct semi-annual book sales, and also maintain a rotating collection for continuous sale at the library's Book Nook. >The Friends offer a rental book inventory of recent best-sellers. > The Friends sponsor public enrichment programs for the general public. > The library relies on generous contributions from the Friends to enhance its collection and program offerings. Upcoming Events! The Friends' annual fall book sale will be held at the library on Saturday, Oct. 4th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come for a great deal on gently used books, movies, and music. Here's your chance to find that out-of-print title! Most items sell for 50 cents to one dollar, or choose a nearly new hardcover for $2.00. The Friends are currently accepting donations of books and media at the library's front desk. Volunteers are needed to help with the set-up and the sale.
